Program Description

Event Details

Join local storyteller Auntie J for a live performance of the story of Benjamin Banneker. Banneker was a brilliant scientist whose love to study the stars and math helped him to predict the timing of the solar eclipse well in advance of the actual occurrence. In 1752, he built the first functioning clock in America made entirely of wood that kept accurate time for decades. Audience members will have the chance to act out parts of the performance. After the storytelling, each child will create their own star chart.

This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Orion Township Library.
